This is the cake i made for my other halfs 21st:
![]() wasnt anything amazing but he loved it! For his 22nd last year i made this one: ![]() I like to think it came out pretty good!! This year im going to be brave and attempt to make a VW camper van. I've researched methods greatly, and got some brilliant tips. Im currently collecting all the bits im gonna need and then in two weeks attempt it ... he doesnt know what cake he's getting but i said if he gets brown lumpy cake with some dirt bikes on it he'll know my original idea failed!!! When ever i ice my cakes the icing seems to get really dry and hard quick and crack? if anyone can give me some tips to stop this that would be great! |

If you knead the fondant really well first to make it more pliable and add shortening if necessary that should cure it. Also rolling it out on a mat helps. Did you carve the cake on the second picture? Good luck with the camper van post a picture when its finished

![]() Yes I did carve that cake out, he ride a yamaha yzf Thundercat so i took a picture of it, printed it and used it as a stencil to cut the bike out, it was a err, tad bigger than planned and ended up using my mums glass chopping board as a cake board!! I will post pics when the camper van is done

well I did it!
I made the camper van cake in feb (i know its taken me forver to get round to putting a pic on here!) it took me hours! over 2 days! it was seven layers of choc brownie layered up with buttercream in between (yes it was a very sickly cake!!!) ![]() he loved it! his sister in law very nicely let me use her kitchen and i couldnt have done it without her help!! i also made her a bithday cake in feb: ![]() i got my other half some awsome cookie cutters for valentines day ( i thought he would appreciate some more manly cooking tools!!) ![]() when his parents go on holiday the plan is to turn his dining room table into a race track and he would like to make some loops and ramps ....havent worked out quite how were gonna work it but i have a feeling my edible glue is about to come in handy once more!!! I turned 21 on monday and my other half spent hours on sunday making my amazing birthday cake: ![]() my other half informed me today that his sister in law has asked us to make a cake for the christening of her beautiful twins, a boy and a girl im very excited about this and cant wait to see what she wants us to do!im thinking maybe a book one side pink one side blue, a pair of shoes at the top on each side then the babys names and such or maybe a sqaure with two pairs of shoes on top and some wiritingon it each letter alternanting pink and blue! we'll see! either way im very excited!!
