Hello Everyone,
can anyone help me with the foundant, I tried 2 times with tonns of cracks ....has anyone been succesul with pretty smooth foundant finish like in cake boss( I love that show) makes everything look easy... thanks |

you have to knead your fondant first to make it pliable and get rid of air bubbles, if it gets sticky just use a bit of icing sugar. when you put it on the cake use your hands to work it in or use a cake smoother.

Hi! If your fondant is cracking it is too dry. Add a little more shortening and knead it in.
Here is a very easy recipe. It will cover a 10" round cake. Marshmallow Fondant 1 cup mini marshmallows 1 TBSP water 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups of powered sugar Place marshmallows in a standard measuring cup,push down and pack them in Place into a microwave safe bowl and add water. Zap them just long enough that they puff up . Stir them down then add powered sugar as needed. Be careful, this is very hot and you can recieve a nasty burn! I take it out of the bowl and knead it(with greased hands) add the sugar until it is well incorporated and no longer sticky. About 5 minutes. Fondant shoul be nice and smooth and pliable. Hope this helps and good luck ***** This recipe can be easily doubled but I find that small batches are easier to work and knead for me. |
